Case Study: Cloud 9 Perception

Posted on June 3, 2020 by Michael Magnus

In early 2019, the Magnus Opus team met with the then start-up tech company Cloud 9 Perception.
Their request was simple, but required some innovative problem solving:
“We want to grow our customer base, however the product is too specific to subcontract outside sales. We want to minimize publicity at moment because we are positioned to dominate our niche, but only if we can get a strong foothold before a larger company with more resources tries to replicate our success.”

Support customer growth through marketing without promotion? Interesting thought exercise.

First, the Magnus Opus team did an analysis and update of the SEO to the Cloud 9 website to increase rankings for targeted keywords related to potential customer queries. We also provided several website re-writes to make the web copy less jargon heavy and more understandable to non-tech readers.

Additionally, since we couldn’t impact sales directly, we focused on the assets that support the sales team. Magnus Opus Creatives explored a brand refresh and offered variations on the logo and fonts. After a few minor updates to the branding, we created chic new business cards for the outside sales team just in time for their biggest trade show of the year.
To provide support for future publicity endeavors, we also developed a fact sheet from key messaging established in our initial client meeting. This fact sheet was leveraged in the feature story published with The Fort Worth Business Press.
Cloud 9 Perception continues to utilize the assets developed and implemented by our team during that intial partnership.
